We had a job in Oxford, an Open Day for Negri Bossi. They had an open day with a hog roast in Oxford for existing customers. In fact they had two days of entertaining clients. It involved Coffee, Danish and biscuits followed by a Hog Roast with freshly made Coleslaw and jacket wedges. By the time I had loaded the van, Ken was back from his event and so we unloaded and loaded back up for an early start the next day. Ken was out at 6.00 but I had to leave at 4.00am. I always try to get to bed early if I am up at 3.30, it never works and so I guess it is adrenaline that keeps me going. It was imperative to be back in Oxford for 6.00 so that we could serve at midday.
I had picked my son in law up on the way and once again it was an event that we had done before. It was for the Oxford Seven’s players. The majority seemed to be Fijian , but I gather some teams had pulled out. I am not surprised having seen the size of the players.
All was good but it was important to pack up fairly quickly and get back to load up for another two jobs. It was then back on the road to be back at base for setting up for Thursday’s Lloyds Rugby sevens.
We were soon back in action with five pigs all roasting and a few joints to supplement proceedings. This is the sixth or possibly the seventh year of doing this event. We have gradually built up from just under a thousand to what is now two thousand ..
All went well , but let’s hope we get invited back again .
