Starting the year off with your own business will no doubt mean you are currently spending a bit of time looking at the calendar ahead and filling out as much of your plans for the year as possible. A great way to get ahead right at the start of the year is to connect with others within your industry. Networking events, such as the one that Hog Roast Didcot attended this past week, are a great way to meet other local business owners – either working in our tangentially to your own industry – and build relationships that can bear fruitful collaborations later down the line. As they say, business is all about who you know, not always what you know.
As a corporate caterer, Hog Roast Didcot regularly works with local businesses to fulfil their dining and catering needs. One such partner of ours always likes to kick the year off by putting together a networking event for all of the local businesses in the area to attend. The idea is to ease everyone back into the year with a relaxed social/work gather with good dining, and foster collaborations for the year ahead. At Hog Roast Didcot we know the value of connecting to other local businesses both in and out of your own industry, so we were of course more than happy to help with our specialist event catering.
For networking events like this, we know the dining should work with the notion that guests are going to be moving around the room a lot and entering a lot of conversations. For us, that means throwing a heavy dinner isn’t quite going to suit, so instead we tend to prefer to run and drinks and canapé service for the event with a buffet off to the side. This allows guests to dine at their leisure and stay engaged with conversations while our team tends to any of their needs along the way.
It was a wonderful evening with a lot of great discussion, and we have no doubt that we’ll see the fruits of a lot of these conversations and connections bear out later in the year!
