On Sunday we at Hog Roast Holton were up bright and early to ensure our pig was prepped and slowly roasting in time for a 1pm serve time. We had 150 guests to feed at christening held in Holton. Kelly (mother of Jude) had said they had a huge family between her and her partner Ben and expected a minimum of 120-150 guests to arrive and we decided it would be best to prepare for the extra just in case!
We arrived at the venue at 10.30am to start our set up and prepare all of our side dishes. The guests were expected to arrive at the venue for 12pm, after an hour of mingling and drinking they would all be eagerly waiting their hog roast! We had catered at this venue before so we knew exactly where to set up which made it very smooth and cut off quite a bit of time that we would normally need. Between myself and my waitress we were prepped and ready ahead of time and were just waiting for out hog to be cooked to perfection.
The guests were all commenting on the beautiful smell that had filled the room subtly. At 1pm Kelly was the first to head over for her hog roast roll and the rest of the guests were not far behind her. Even the children on the day loved the pulled pork and potato wedges! Plenty of fresh crispy salads were available for the guests to help themselves too. Myself and Amy, my waitress, were busy filling the rolls with lovely tender pulled pork, perfect crackling and our stuffing for a full 45 minutes, with many guests coming back for more! Kelly’s partner Ben even had room for 3 hog rolls, we could tell he really enjoyed them!
There were so many compliments on the food, it is always greatly appreciated. A Sunday that was well spent in our eyes at Hog Roast Holton and definitely worth an early Sunday start!
